Project guidelines for each title:

Children are to complete the activities listed below:

1. Because of Winn-Dixie- Choose two characters from the story to compare and contrast using the Venn-Diagram attached. Write in cursive on the line above each circle the name of the character you are choosing to compare and contrast. Write your name, date, and title of the book on the lines provided. Remember- be neat!

Some things to think about when you are reading:

1. What do these characters have in common?
2. Do they share attitudes, friends, interests…?
3. How are they different?
4. Do they have different settings, problems, likes, dislikes…?
5. Write at least four facts in each circle of how the characters are different.
6. In the center, write four facts of how the characters are the same.

2. Charlotte’s Web- Create a book cover using 9x12 white construction paper. Please design the cover on the paper vertically, not horizontally. This assignment needs to be completed in cursive. Write the title of the book on the top of the page, making sure it is centered. Underneath the title, write the author’s name. Write your name under the author’s name as the illustrator, write “Illustrated by…” Please remember to use a ruler to make all lines. The book cover should reflect the main character(s), setting, and plot. You may use colored crayon, colored pencils, or marker to decorate the cover.
