This year marks our 85th Anniversary. We kicked off our celebration with the
creation of the 85th website to reach out to our alumni and
friends of HTS -
www.holytrinityspiritnow.org
The weather did not cooperate for Saint Patrick’s Day –
we had a wonderful float (Our students raised $1,000 from a walk-a-thon and
we sold 85th anniversary T-shirts to build the float) and a
family party planned. The float will
be ready for next year’s parade and a number of activities are planned for

the fall in celebration of our wonderful heritage. (keep
a lookout on our website and the Church bulletin for dates and times) You
can also join the Holy Trinity School- Norfolk, VA group on Facebook and
reconnect with old friends. Thank you to Lisa Edwards and Heather
Wentworth for their help and generosity in developing the 85th
Campaign.

HTS continues to serve our
Parish, local and global communities.
Each class sponsors a particular group or organization as an ongoing
service project. Monthly snack and
visiting with our Pre-School students is a highlight for our Parish
seniors. The Haven, the SPCA and
CHKD are the recipients of our students’ talents and gifts. The Red Cross Heroes Program was our
Lenten Service Project again this year. The Parish food pantry is our
school-wide service project and

Middle School has had
an active, exciting year with the addition of electives and the expanded
Exploratory Program. Our students
have had the opportunity to select a
variety of elective subjects each quarter to include: Keyboarding, Computer Applications, Teen
Living, Reading Roundtables, Creative Writing, and the favorite –
Robotics. The Exploratory Program
has exposed our students to an assortment of activities such as gardening,
chess, designing bulletin boards and flip flops, a variety of cooking
activities,(with a trip to Young Chef’s Academy), tennis instruction (by a
local tennis pro),

– Brigid
Barrineau who taught Art at HTS a number of years ago returned to us
this year to teach third grade. Her enthusiasm and love of learning is
contagious to her students. Mrs.
Barrineau is very involved in HTS life – cosponsoring SCA, judging Forensics
competition, working with students on essays for the Oratorical Competition
and working with her fellow faculty members on coordinating the Christmas
Program and Holy Week Activities.

– This year we partnered with the Center of Economic
Education at Old
Dominion University
with our elementary students’ participation in the The Classroom Mini-Economy Program. Professional Development was provided by
Ruth Cookson as well as our third grade teacher, Brigid Barrineau attended
a workshop at ODU on the Mini Economy
Program. What a wonderful learning experience it
has been, especially in our current
economy.
